Website for the lost and found

Australian Financial Review

17 October 2002

Shareholders who have lost touch with companies in administration, receivership or liquidation can find the details they need, free of charge, at delisted.com.au.

This new website provides either copies of liquidators’ declarations that allow shareholders to claim their tax loss, or an assessment of when a declaration may be issued.

The website is interactive, so if shareholders have relevant questions about a company delisted from the Australian Stock Exchange they can leave a message and confidently expect an answer.

Most shareholders are unprepared for the abrupt suspension of their company from quotation and its subsequent disappearance into the proverbial black hole.

Shareholders are often frustrated by not being able to find out what has happened to the company and how or when to claim their capital loss for tax purposes.

The website provides the answers, including the tax status (in so far as it affects shareholders) for almost 500 companies delisted from the Australian Stock Exchange since 1990.
