we understand there were nine trusts with debts of about $340 million and unitholders faced the prospect of receiving as little as 5c in the dollar for their investments - the trusts were briefly controlled by Global Funds Management which put together the structure to help form Meridian - the nine trusts were cobbled together and then run by Tyndall - unitholders initially exchanged their units for units in one or other of the Meridian Investment Trusts 1 to 6 - these units were subsequently exchanged for units in the Meridian Investment Trust which listed on ASX - on 21 June 2000 the Meridian Investment Trust changed its name to the Tyndall Meridian Trust - unitholders in the original Estate Mortgage trusts who wish to confirm their holdings should probably contact Computershare on 1300 787 272 - sale on the market will of course crystallise any capital loss
